Compared to the end of December 2024, the total number of persons under temporary protection in the EU increased by 25 530 (+0.6%) at the end of January. Another 8800 people arrived in Germany a month, 6360, 3050 to the Czech Republic.

Anton Białostotsky was born in Lviv, but later his family moved to Ternopil. He was an active participant in the Revolution of Dignity. In 2023, he became a fighter of the Lut assault brigade, was appointed a platoon inspector, and in June 2023 received the rank of police lieutenant. He had the call sign "Van Damm" - that's what his comrades called him because wherever he was, he constantly played sports.
The soldier completed combat medic courses and saved the lives of his comrades in combat positions. On January 8, 2024, he was awarded the honorary breastplate of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valery Zaluzhny "For a saved life".
Anton's life ended on June 29, 2024, in battle near the city of Toretsk in the Donetsk region.
The defender is survived by his wife, mother and brother. Our editorial office received a heartfelt letter from his wife Svetlana asking us to remember Anton in the "On the Shield" section.
