🔴 Safa follow-up | Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Monitor: Israeli prisons and detention camps were designed as tools of torture in themselves for Palestinian prisoners and detainees.
▪️Israel's announcement of the opening of an underground prison in the city of Ramla and the display of scenes of prisoners inside it in harsh humane conditions reflects a disdain for the international justice system and the result of a long history of impunity.
▪️Video clips showed detainees chained inside cells that are not exposed to sunlight and are closed with iron gates and without any bedding or blankets.
▪️The Israeli claim that the prison is intended for the most dangerous detainees does not justify violating the rules of international law related to captivity and detention, which require that all prisoners be treated humanely without exception.
▪️"Israel" used the accusation of elite membership in Palestinian factions for thousands of detainees from Gaza and subjected them to brutal torture and then released them, which confirms that this accusation is false and was used as a cover for torture and revenge.

▪️The occupation forces have killed at least 60 Palestinians since October 7, 2023 in prisons, and the martyrdom of most of them was revealed after several weeks or months, indicating the possibility of other victims whose martyrdom and details of the killing are being concealed by "Israel".
▪️Israeli crimes against prisoners from Gaza constitute full-fledged war crimes and crimes against humanity and acts of genocide committed by "Israel" against the Palestinian people in the Strip.
▪️All states and concerned international entities should take immediate and effective measures to stop the systematic and widespread crimes of killing, torture and other serious violations committed by "Israel" against Palestinian prisoners and ensure that they are detained in conditions that guarantee humane treatment.
